Durham Black Educators’ Network (DBEN), supported by Durham District School Board (DDSB) and our community sponsors, proudly offers annual opportunities for acknowledging students’ achievements.
As part of our continued work to support and highlight Black Excellence, the Durham Black Educators’ Network (DBEN), Activating Student Success Awards scholarship applications are now open. Each year, with an intentional focus on motivating, cultivating, and encouraging infinite possibilities, DBEN Activating Student Success Awards shine a light on students of DDSB’s Black Diaspora, who emulate excellence and exceptional leadership within their schools and community. This year, DBEN is proud to add four new awards: Queen Rising, Euleen Thompson, Ifarada Institute of Excellence, and the National Basketball Youth Mentorship Program (NBYMP) Foundation.
The scholarships and recognition ceremony reinforce high expectations for Black students in Durham Region and acknowledge their accomplishments while promoting a stronger sense of well-being and belonging. We know our students are highly capable, and with encouragement and support, they can achieve their dreams.
This year’s awards ceremony will be a virtual live event which will be held on:
Thursday, May 27, 2021, at 7:00 p.m.
The awards and scholarships granted to students enrolled in DDSB schools can be found here. Deadline is April 9, 2021 at 11:59 pm
