ELEMENTARY EDITION

The Durham Black Educators’ Network (DBEN), in partnership with the Durham District School Board and the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario, is pleased to announce the 5th annual “And Still We Rise” Elementary Student Conference for students in grades 5 to 8, coming forth on Saturday, April 9th, 2016 from 9:30 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. This year’s conference will take place at Glengrove Public School, 1934 Glengrove Rd, Pickering, ON.

This year’s conference focuses around the theme of “Cultivating Courageous Change”. The day includes engaging speakers as well as workshops for both parents and their children.  This year we are excited to have Dwayne Morgan, founder of Up From The Roots entertainment, join us as the keynote speaker for the event.

We would like to invite you, your students, and their parents to this year’s conference. Over the years, our impact on reaching out to all students of the black diaspora within the region, as well as their families, has expanded tremendously and we look forward to continuing this year.

Registration for this event is now available.  Please register your student(s) / child(ren) via email to Arlene Walkes and Michele Liverpool at info@dben.org. In the email, please include the following:
